An Old Blender becomes a Fish Aquarium |

Over two years ago my husband broke the kitchen blender. He had a brilliant idea to convert the useless piece of kitchen equipment into a fish aquarium. I thought it was a "tickle your funny bone" kind of idea and encouraged his making this happen!
He created a leak proof barrier by injecting a plastic sealer around the rim of the base. Then the electric cord was cut off just in case someone got a little to crazy about the idea of a fish in a blender! We filled the aquarium with all the appropriate fare, some rock in the bottom along with small plants and shells.
Then we picked out two lucky goldfish, got some flaky goldfish food and introduced them to their new abode. It really was a kick to see fish swimming around in the blender/aquarium! What a conversation piece it has become!
My husband was not able to figure out how to install a pump for aeration, really there isn't enough room for it in the blender, so the aquarium needs to be cleaned often. To this day we still have "Copper", one of our initial goldfish residents! |
