My next door neighbor has two little girls who talk to me quite often when I am in my front yard. The other day, they came over and were so excited to tell me that they got a new pet hamster. They were jumping up and down and wanted to bring him out to show me. I quickly stated that I would ask mom if I could come in to see their new pet hamster. My neighbor thought a hamster would be a terrific first pet for the girls to take care of and love. I never had a hamster, but growing-up, many of my friends did have one in their rooms. He was sure cute and his cage had some nice places for him to sleep and hide. Luckily, the girls shared a bedroom, so as not to fight over where the hamster would be. Mom stated the girls are also heavy sleepers, so the night-time running on the wheel doesn’t bother them. The girls put the hamster in the plastic ball and squealed with delight as he was rolling all around. Hamsters are great pets, they are cute, lovable and entertain the family with all their energy. What more could kids ask for?
