When my son turned 5 I promised him that we would set up an aquarium in the living room.   He started asking for one when he was 3 and saw one at the dentist’s office, but I wanted him to be able to help maintain the aquarium, so I told him when he turned 5 that we would start one.    I kept my promise and last year my husband and I set up a beautiful aquarium in the living room.   What I didn’t know, was that the chemicals and other items would be so expensive.   Granted, I don’t need to buy them that often, but when I do, I’d like to know that I’m getting the most for my money and I haven’t felt that way.    I recently decided to look online after a friend told me that she gets all her aquarium equipment for a better price.    I didn’t put much stock in the idea, but I was pleasantly surprised when I went and actually checked.   I placed an order and know that it’s the first of many.   I can’t imagine paying the local prices again after seeing the difference in the prices between online and the local retailer.   It just goes to show what the mark up is on some of the products we buy and I prefer to keep that cash in my pocket.
