My mom and dad gave my son a hamster for his birthday and he has done so well with taking care of it that I’m extremely impressed.   I’ll admit being a bit skeptical when it came to the idea of giving my son a hamster because I didn’t really think that he’d take care of it.  I figured that it would end up being one of those things that I had to add to my list of daily chores because my son had other things that he’d rather do.   My parents were insistent on giving him a hamster for his birthday, so I finally said ok.    As soon as he saw it, he promised me he’d take care of it, and surprisingly he’s done just that.    Yesterday afternoon he came to me and said he was running low on food, so this morning I’m going to spend a little time online ordering some hamster food and also some treats for it.   My son is convinced he’s going to teach the hamster tricks and while I’m not sure that is even possible, I figure he will have fun trying so why not?
